It's just the way of the world. I have some more dead links to report. In some cases, I've been able to find an equivalent page to include, but in other cases, I've just had to take them off the site.
Shooting Blind Exhibition on aperture.org seems to have gone, but the book is still available.
Aperture Foundation events page. The site has been reorganised, and they don't seem to have carried on with this page.
Paulette Obee - A blind blogger, guide dog owner, Braille user, and technology lover, living in London.
RSS Feed - can't find this blog any more.
The BBC Ouch! disability podcast feed is now this - http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/radio/ouch/rss.xml - good job I told you, as the BBC don't seem over-bothered to tell you where it is.
My Anxious Life has gone.
EFT. Emotional Freedom Techniques · Abundancia 33 - Español. This seems to have gone (file not found).
How does EFT work? can't find it.
The site has another new page, Tandem Cycling and Blind People, which stems from my own passion for cycling, which has had to take a back seat (sorry) in recent years. However, if anyone feels like volunteering to be my pilot......
There is not a great deal of material on this, unfortunately, though there is some goode stuff going on that may serve as a model for future activities.
These are pages that have nothing to do with blindness, but have been lurking on the site for some time. Possibly they will be of interest to some people, and have been appearing in Google searches, so I thought it was time to link them in with the rest of the site.
It may have seemed mighty quiet on this site lately because I've been sorting out a computer that works and have had other things to worry about. However, normal service is being resumed.
Happily there's not a lot to report on this.
The Sight of Emotion documentary listed on Blind Photography has gone from Channel 4's web site, though there is some background information on a site I'm still listing.
PodcastSender is closing down, so I've removed references to them from the Blind Podcasting Page.
Blind Ambitions audio magazines don't seem to be available at present (Sound of Sight and Eyes on Employment, that is).
Blindness, Music and Opinions Blogs - has been removed, either by the author or Blogger.
Code Amber Podcast - I'm getting a server error for this, so don't really know whether it's still running. I note that it is supposed to be moving to a new server, and will put it back when that appears.
Paulette Obee - blog is "offline", whatever that means.
Jared Rimer's Technology Blog and Podcast - the web site is still there, but there seems to be a problem with the podcast feed. Maybe connected to the changes at Code Amber (above), hosted by the same person.
Tribute to David M. Stoffel, reputedly a genius-level blind programmer has gone.
Main Menu - blog for the ACB Radio Mainstream programme. "Blog has been removed".
Royal National College for the Blind Web site seems to have a problem at present. Can't get a peep out of it.
The podcast feed for Music4Ipods.com seems to have a fault. Can't get it to reveal itself at all.
From the Trenches Podcast feed seems to be down, although the Music For All web site is still very much alive.
Digital Experience Podcast seems to be no more, though some of the same characters appear in other podcasts.
Everest Podcast has had a good innings, but now seems to be no more.
Patients win sight treatment battle - out-of-court settlement in Warwickshire opens the door for wet macular degeneration treatment with Lucentis.
Horticulture for All - for horticultural professionals and practitioners who appreciate the social and therapeutic aspects of gardening.
Disappeared.
Gardening Forum on ChatEVO!
This may be a different forum from the one I had listed before, which was at an unobtainable address.
Tiresias Music Page - information on many software packages and hardware devices in this field.
Moved into the archive, and is not being kept up to date. However, I'll keep the link on the Music Page for the time being.
SoundSeeingTours.Podshow.Com.
Web site. [sound-seeing]
Apparently gone. There are other sound-seeing tours available.
A number of other links were updated so that they work again, including those for Action for Blind People and the Chinastic web site.
News Flash from the Macular Disease Society, UK - www.maculardisease.org
This court case accuses Warwickshire PCT of acting illegally in not funding any patients with Lucentis. The action is being brought by Raymond Liggins, Jean Middleton, Patricia Meadows and the RNIB.
There will be a protest outside the court from 9.30a.m.. We want as many people as possible to come and join the protest against the post code lottery and against PCTs which are letting people go blind through refusal to fund treatment.
Make a difference, come and join us! Call the office on 01264 350551 to let us know if you intend to be there.
This week, the site has acquired two new pages, including the one you're reading.
This page, What's New, is a bit of a scratch-pad for trying out new bits of code that generate items of interest for the site, whether it's world news, quotes, weather, or whatever.
I hope you'll excuse its rather experimental nature, as I hope it will give rise to some dynamic features for the whole site, without losing accessibility.
The other new page is esref.html, which has links to pages about the remarkable Eşref Armağan, a blind Turkish artist who has a formidable talent for conceptualising perspective and colour. This isn't naive art, or "not bad for a blind man" - it's amazingly accomplished, and the artist himself is telling us all sorts of useful material about perception without sight.
Another issue I will try to address is the one of links going out of date. I will dtry to document any that I drop from the site because they no longer work. Although I check the site regularly for these, you may be frustrated not to be able to find a link that was listed before. At least you'll be able to get an explanation in this section.
For fans of gardens, and sensory gardens in particular, you might like to follow up this one... Saying it with Flowers - Kingsbrae Gardens, ST Andrews, Scotland, appeal to every sense, including the sense of fun.
